Surgery U is an online learning tool built by doctors, for doctors, which was created back in 2001 by Dr. Assia Stepanian. The site features a library of video presentations that demonstrate how to perform cutting edge surgical procedures, especially using minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy.

We are currently working on a long-term project to make Surgery U the premiere destination for surgeons online. Surgery U is being taken from being a searchable collection of videos to a truly interactive environment where doctors can share their own surgical videos, rate each others presentations, and collaborate on research online. We have already implemented the ability to feature live surgeries from all over the world, in which doctors can participated using online resources such as Twitter. The goal of the project is to create an online destination that doctors will want to visit every day... one that will become a staple of how they interact with other surgeons online.

Beginning in May 2010, we are taking surgical education to a whole new platform with the introduction of Surgery U Mobile. For the first time ever, doctors will have access to a wide array of reference and educational information, right on their iPhone.

The Surgery U Mobile App will contain surgical video tutorials, equipment reference manuals, medical reference books, and pre-recorded seminars, all available in the palm of your hand, anytime and anywhere. We expect Surgery U Mobile to revolutionize how surgeons learn and keep up with the latest techniques and procedures.
